Running an Event on Carde.io

The basic steps to run an event on the Carde.io platform.

Before Starting an Event

Open the event through the Events page on the Admin Dashboard.

Confirm Tournament Settings

Check the Tournament tab to ensure settings are correct. For example:

  • Check the number of Swiss rounds or whether the Dynamic rounds setting is enabled

  • Check whether a top cut has been added and the requirement to enter the phase (i.e. Top 8, Top 4, etc.)

A top cut can be added at any point during the Swiss phase, prior to ending the event. It does not need to be added prior to starting the event, but it's good practice to double-check beforehand to avoid any event delays.

For a more in-depth look on how to configure event phases, see these guides:

In the Event Details tab under the Gameplay Format & Rules Enforcement section, configure:

  • Gameplay Format

  • Rules Enforcement Level

These options will vary by game, but the Rules Enforcement Level determines which infractions and penalties can be issued during the event.

In the Settings tab under the Tournament Settings section, configure:

  • Round Duration

  • Points per Win

  • Points per Draw

  • Points per Loss

  • The option to reset the timer when round pairings are published

Confirm Player Requirements & Details

Navigate to the Players tab to ensure any player requirements are met or any other necessary actions are taken. For example:

  • Player check-in, if required

  • For Riftbound events, confirm the player has a Riot account connected

  • Assign a fixed seat to a player

  • Check that players have paid or issue an required refunds

  • Cancel player registrations as necessary

  • Review or confirm any submitted player decklists
