Playing in an Event on Carde.io

An overview of how to play in an event on the Carde.io platform; from event registration to pairings and submitting results to reviewing the event details after it's all done.

Event Registration

Join an Event

To join an event:

  1. Navigate to your desired Gaming or Play Network and locate an event you want to participate in

  2. Review the details of the event

    • Confirm the time and location, the event structure, the price (if applicable), and any other notes or instructions from the Tournament Organizer in the Event Description to be sure you can arrive ready to play!

  3. Click the Join Event button in the top right of the event page

  4. In the confirmation pop-up, select the email address of the player that will be joining the event

    • If you are a parent with guardianship connection to your child's account, you will be able to register them for the event here

  5. Click Join Event or Buy Tickets (if it's a paid event)

  6. If it's a paid event, enter your payment information and click Complete Payment

  7. You have officially registered for an event!

For more details, check out the Player Registration, Event Management, and Payments guide.

Registration Confirmation Email

Once you've successfully registered for the event, you'll receive a registration confirmation email. There you will find the direct link to the event page if you ever need to reference it. You can also refer to the My Events page to see any events you have joined, whether they are in-progress, completed, or upcoming.

Important Note

Replies to the registration email will go to Carde.io support ([email protected]), and while we can assist with any technical issues or general questions about the site, we cannot directly contact the store nor do we have information about how any specific store is running their event, details about their location, prizing, delays, cancellations, refunds or payments, etc.

If you'd like to get in touch with the store hosting the event, you can follow these steps to locate their public contact information:

  1. Click the link in the email to open the event page

  2. Click on the store's name at the top of the page

  3. Scroll down to the Store Information section to view the store's phone number or email address

Once you have located the store's contact information, you can reach out to them directly with any questions about the event.

Event Page Overview

Once you have registered for an event, the event page includes the following sections and information:

  • Deck Submission – If enabled by the Tournament Organizer, you can submit your deck for the event here

  • Check-in Code Field – If enabled by the Tournament Organizer, you can enter the check-in code provided by the store or event host to check in

  • Event Details – General information about the event, such as start time and event capacity

  • Structure – Format and round configuration

  • Event Description – A description of the event, which might include notes or instructions from the organizer

  • Roster – A list of registered players

Before the Event

Deck Submission

To submit a deck for an event:

  1. In the Deck Submission section, click New Deck

  2. In the Submit Your Deck pop-up, select Create New Deck or Paste Full Text

  3. When you've finished inputting your deck, click Submit Deck

  4. After you've submitted your deck, you can click View/Edit to edit the deck or New Deck to submit a new deck to overwrite the existing one

If the Tournament Organizer sets up a specific window for decklist submissions, they can also enable the option to Allow Late Submissions after that window has closed. If this is the case, you will see a notice that submissions are closed and your decklist will be marked as late.

If you do submit a late decklist, you will see the Late flag on the event page as well:

Note: There are no intrinsic penalties for submitting a late deck. The Late flag simply lets organizers know whether or not a deck was submitted or edited after the deadline.

Check-in

If check-in is required for an event, you will see a Check-in Required indicator in the right corner below the Join and Drop buttons.

Some stores may enable the option to require players to enter a Check-in Code in order to check in for the event.

If you see a banner on the event page that says "Please check in to this event to play" with an "Enter Check-in Code" field, look for the code at the location or ask a Tournament Organizer for the code. Once you have the code, type it in and click the Check In button.

Tournament Organizers also have the option to make check-in by organizer only, in which case someone at the event would check you in manually. Additionally, some events may not require check-in at all.

Once you have checked in to the event, the Check-in Required indicator below the Join and Drop buttons will change to Checked in.

Fixed Seat

If you require fixed seating for the event, notify the Tournament Organizer and they can assign you a fixed seat. After they have assigned you a fixed seat, your table number will display in the upper right corner below the drop button:

Pairing

When the Tournament Organizer starts the event, the event page will display a banner that says, "Waiting for Round 1 pairings to be finalized..."

After the Tournament Organizer finalizes the pairings, you will see the player you are paired against and which table you are playing at, as well as the other pairings in the round.

Pairing Notifications

When pairings are published, you will also receive a notification with information regarding your current pairing. You can view these event notifications through the Notification Center. To do so, click the bell icon next to your name in the top right to open the notification panel and view recent alerts:

Submit Results

Once you have been paired, it's time to play!

When you're ready to submit your round results:

  1. Click the + Add Results button

  2. In the Report Results pop-up, click on the name of the player who won each round or select Tie

  3. Once you've selected the results, click Submit Results

As the other players finish their rounds, you will see the match results reflected on the event page. You can also view the timer for the round on the left side.

When all players have submitted their results, the Tournament Organizer will progress the event to the next round.

Note: If you have any trouble submitting your results, notify the Tournament Organizer and they can submit the results through the Admin Dashboard instead.

After an Event

View Pairings & Standings

Once the event has finished, you can view the pairings and standings for each round. To view information from different rounds, click the Round X drop-down menu and select the round you want to view. You can also use the search bar to search by name.

In the Standings section there is an additional Filter that allows you to adjust the view to show:

  • Show Tie-Breakers – Enabled by default, but can be toggled on or off to view or hide the tie-breakers for each round

  • Just Me – Toggle on to view only your own standings data (Helpful for larger events with lots of players!)

Tournament Recap

Below the Standings section, you can view your Tournament Recap. Click on View recap to view more details about your tournament performance.

In the Tournament Recap pop-up, you can view:

  • Event name, structure, date, and store name

  • Your final placement

  • Your record

  • Your deck

  • Your match history including each opponent you played and your scores for each round

You can also click on the Download PNG button to download a PNG version of the Tournament Recap card.

View Player Decks

If the Tournament Organizer chooses to publish decklists for the event, you can view each player's deck in the Roster section by clicking on the eye icon on the right side. In the Deck Details pop-up you can also Copy or Print the deck.
